In collaboration with Civic.Space, the Animal Eyes project is a permanent outdoor interactive installation installed on the campus of the University of Wyoming’s Biodiversity Institute. The piece features 8 bronze animal heads with digital displays inside of the animal’s eyeball. The displays are computer screens powered by software that I designed and developed.

The software, which will run 24 hours a day for 10 years, is constantly displaying a series of animations and overlays showing wildlife interacting in various parts of Wyoming. The software parses real-time weather data of 8 landmarks in Wyoming and plays videos that corresponds to those regions, weather conditions, and time of year. The videos show migration, nesting, hibernation, etc. The snippets of videos are randomized to build constantly changing stories that conform to the requirements of the Biodiversity Institute, but tell a unique story each time the animations are viewed.
