Intricate Interplay
Intricate Interplay is a large-scale interactive projection that invites participants to take control of a living, ever-shifting chain reaction. By scanning a QR code, visitors connect with their phones to manipulate different parts of the scene in real time — sliding a boulder-like creature to nudge obstacles, spawning bouncing balls into motion, steering a conveyor belt to shift the flow, or detonating clusters of objects with the bloom of an oversized flower.
The result is part Rube Goldberg machine, part physics playground, part collaborative mini-game — a kinetic world of charming, hand-drawn characters and unpredictable cause-and-effect. When no one is playing, the system loops through a self-running sequence; but the real magic begins when participants join in, working together (or against each other) to awaken the machine and keep the chain reaction alive.
Intricate Interplay is a collaboration between designer and developer Josh Miller and illustrator Joey Strain.
