Frequency Ink
Frequency Ink is a generative art project that ran for two months in busy hallways of Communication Hall at Northampton Community College. The software captured audio and drew a variable-width curve based on the volume, duration, and sounds captured 24 hours per day. The colors were generated by the most recent color palette submissions to kuler.com, so each moment, the artwork projected was generated not only by the ambient sounds in the gallery, but also by color swatch submissions from people all over the planet.
